Guide to CBT (compulsory basic training)
The CBT is a course for new riders required by law before riding on the road.
Once completed the holder may ride a motorcycle or moped up to 125cc* whilst displaying L-Plates.
Following successful completion of the CBT, you will be issued with a certificate (DL 196) that is valid for 2 years.
You are then entitled to train for and take the tests required for a full motorcycle licence.
You will need to produce your provisional / full driving licence at the time of taking your CBT.
*- Aged 16 entitled to ride up to 50cc only
We can book courses on your behalf via AF motorcycle training (Yeovil), Acer motorcycle training (Glos) or Westside Rider motorcycle training (Glos) and/or deliver your new bike to the test centre for you. Please enquire for details.
We also offer "start-up" packages – whereby we can include a helmet and suitable clothing along with a new scooter / moped for one inclusive price - please enquire for more details.
